She wears a uniform to school, but when the bell rings, Fatima Ptacek sports a TON of designer clothing!
“My favorite designer is Alexander McQueen. I love the feel of dark romanticism that you see in his work. It is pure art,” the star of Nickelodeons hit show Dora and Friends: Into the City, tells EXCLUSIVLee.com.
Aside from McQueen, the 14-year-old fashionista says she has several other go-to designers for red carpet events!
“The red carpet looks that have worked best for me include Oscar De La Renta (who recently dressed me for the Venice Film Festival), Red Valentino, and Lorena Sarbu, she says. Another favorite is my good friend Bonnie Young, a New York based designer who has dressed me many times on the red carpet. She designed the dress I wore to the Academy Awards last year and it was a hit with fashion critics. I love her aesthetic and outside-the-box ideas, says Ptacek, adding: I’d love to collaborate with her on a tween collection.”
So where does Ptacek shop when she’s not heading to a red carpet?
‘For my “everyday cool” look, my go-to store is Scotch & Soda. Their Scotch Rbelle collection has everything a city girl needs for her everyday adventures,” says the teen star, who admits she got her keen fashion sense from her mom.
“She has a really good eye for fashion, so I’ve developed her appreciation for style, says Ptacek. Also, as a young model, I was “the face of” for a number of European designers, so I was exposed to a certain fashion sense and style that made me conscious of my own personal look, she explains.
Ptacek is so into fashion, in fact, that she manages to make even her high school uniform trendy.
“For school, my philosophy is that if you’re going to wear a uniform, you should wear it correctly and keep it neat and simple, she says. Add a little pizzazz with combat boots and maybe some Alex and Ani bracelets.
